Recently, we talked about developing better writing habits and I shared five writing ideas to help you improve your writing over time.
Right this moment, I wish to talk about why the number one tip on that checklist was write every single day, and I’ll clarify why it’s the most effective path to better writing.
Writing on a Whim
I began out writing poetry simply earlier than I hit my teens. Writing was a sacred outlet, and I poured my desires, frustrations, and wishes onto the pages of my notebook.
During those years, I developed a very unhealthy perspective about writing, one which I consider many younger or new writers cling to - that talent is all that matters. You had it otherwise you didn’t, and it by no means occurred me that one thing that required talent would additionally benefit from arduous work. So, I wrote, but solely once I felt like it. Weeks would go by and I wouldn’t write a phrase, after which in just some days, I’d half fill a notebook with my novice poetry and angst-ridden tween rants.
